July is always an interesting month in NYC. The dog days have not begun and thoughts of vacation dance in our heads - especially here in NYC. While NYC is not known for its temperate summer, July can be an opportune month if you like good retail opportunities.Read More
See that mermaid tail? Look closely. It's crochet! And its only one of the many interesting items you will find in a new movie about our favorite subject: "Yarn." This new film highlights a diverse group of artists who are redefining the tradition of knit and crochet, bringing yarn out of the house and into the world. Reinventing the relationship with this colorful tradition, YARN weaves together wool graffiti artists, circus performers, and structural designers into a visually-striking look at the women who are making a creative stance while building one of modern art's hottest trends.Read More

Any New Yorker worth the name knows that Spring is one of the most magical times in our city. We are blessed with an assortment of flowering trees and spaces that do our city proud. Many a knitter also knows that spring is a time when thoughts turn to spring and summer projects. Lightweight shawls and sweaters, new baby togs and an assortment of accessories can be made from the cotton and linen yarns that grace our shelves. Since we are always getting new materials we thought a few words and pictures might provide some ideas.Read More

The story of Lars and Lopi began when Lars decided to follow his favorite yarn on a color filled road and create a book out of that adventure. True to his focused self, he went on that trip with a vision in mind and followed it through with design, layout and publishing. He had help from fine photographer, Gale Zucker, and when you see it, we think you'll agree that it was an impressive debut.Read More
We know it's messy. We know it's really hard to get around in it. We know it's not fun to jump over those dirty mounds in the street. All that said, it's also really beautiful - especially in the park.Read More

We can hardly believe it ourselves. It's been 10 years, already. At the beginning of this New Year, we are grateful for the decade in which we have grown and learned so much. We are more than grateful for the wonderful people we have grown to know and love. The world of fiber art (for that is what it is) is filled with amazing and generous souls and we count many of them as good friends. Thank you for your years of trust and support. Please stop by, have some cake and say Hello.Read More
'Tis the month to be grateful......

This month we are celebrating the goodness of our community. Thank you to all who came to the store last Saturday and helped to support "Room to Read." Your generous purchases and donations enabled the non-profit that benefits Children's Literacy in Asia and Africa to raise over $800 toward their mandate to build critical reading skills and help young women in the fight for educational equality.Read More
What a great month! We welcomed back lots of customers to the beginning of fall - some say one of the best times of the year in NYC. We were involved with the NYC Yarn Crawl (it's 7th year) and we made new friends. We topped off September with a marvelous Fall Fashion show from Vogue Knitting at our monthly Knitter's Night Out at City Bakery. Plus, we got to enjoy seeing what others have accomplished over the summer as people "strutted their stuff" to rounds of applause.Read More
Many of us label Labor Day the end of Summer and it's easy to see why. School is back in session and the leaves begin their annual turning. For the knitting industry it's considered the best time of year to introduce new yarns and designs and, after all these years, we still get excited when the big boxes start to arrive. Take a look at what we have in store!Read More
