August Dreams

There's a hint of fall in the air and, despite the fact that there are weeks of warm weather left, we find our thoughts turning to new designs, new yarns and old (and new) friends. Speaking of the new, we've begun to welcome some special new yarns into the store along with fall magazines and books. Take a look...

... New for Knitty City is Sumblime Worsted. For a long time, we have admired the pattern support for this yarn and now we are carrying the yarn and the patterns. All we can say is that it's called Sublime for a reason!

We also have the Sublime Baby Cashmere Silk Merino yarn in stock. This is many knitters "perfect blend" since it's one of the softest combinations. The gentle colors underscore this yarns great appeal for accessories, baby items and more... This is just half of what we have on hand, color wise. If you want to see the rest, you know where to find us!

Fall Magazines

It's so much fun to see what's on the horizon for the next really big knitting season and Rowan never disappoints! Check out the cover scarf by Martin Story. His interesting design - cable on top of garter stitch is sure to garner lots of attention.

This Early Fall Issue of Vogue Knitting is one of the prettiest on the stand right now. Our customers must agree since we only have 2 left in stock, so hurry on in and grab a copy.

We bet that those pink half gloves on the cover will be on more than one list for holiday giving!

SPINNING NEWS!

Wensleydale fiber is NOW in the shop! This luscious material comes from Fleece Artist in Nova Scotia and is fiber well worth a good spin. We love their colors, and hope you'll join Mary for one of our Sunday Spin Classes. They are held every Sunday, from 3-4 PM. Even if you're new to the skill, Mary will have you spinning up a storm by the end of the afternoon!

Special Designer Event

Thursday, August 13, 6-8 PM

Pearl has a knack for meeting fascinating people and it happened again last weekend when Pearl met Olga Flower, a crochet artist from the Ukraine. Olga is in town this week only, so Pearl asked her to be a guest at a special impromptu Designer's Event this upcoming Thursday. Please join us this Thursday, August 13, from 6-8 PM, and meet this fascinating woman from a special place in our world. To see some of her other designs, you can visit her Etsy shop.

When it comes to events, we like to think ours please and our Free Knitting Lesson in Bryant Park has been one of those crowd pleasing offerings we are proud of. Held every Tuesday from 1:30-3 PM, our last session for the Summer will be on Tuesday, August 25. Please join us if you can. NYC may be on a small island, but it's a big space and there are still a lot of people who may wish to learn how to knit. Please pass the word on to your friends, knitters and non-knitters alike. Even if you know how, you might want to consider sharing a good thing!

Well, that's it for the moment - don't forget to check our calendar to discover our other classes. We're always posting on FacebookRavelry, Pinterest, and Instagram so you can follow us on any of those sites, and sign up for our newsletter.
