Every year, we look forward to World Wide Knitting In Public (WWKIP) day in Bryant Park. Last Saturday, we all gathered and had a fun time knitting, crocheting and also spinning! We love to see members of our community come together and have a good time.
As usual, we set up by the Gertrude Stein statue. We draped our signature Knitty City scarf around Ms. Stein, set the tables with orange table cloths, and we were ready to go. Soon enough nearly all the tables and seats were taken!
More and more people came and we were so happy to see familiar but also new faces.
We reserved tables and seats for knitting and crochet groups - Pints and Purls, NYC Crochet Guild and Knit and Schmooze, just to name a few.
Not only knitting was represented during this day. There were crocheters and also a spinner. Please know that you are all welcome! Next year we also hope to see weavers. Or even tatters and needle pointers!
All in all it was simply a happy and fun day. We were elated to see our community come together like this. Longtime friends gathered and also new friendships were forged.
Knitty City thanks you for coming out to Bryant Park during WWKIP and we hope to see you all again next year!
